I was going to email Webb that even if I didn’t vote for him the first time, he could count on my vote for re-election if he panned this bill…but looks like he blew it.

Warner is getting shit-canned, though. I already let him know I’ll be voting for his opponent come re-election, whether for a Libertarian, Democrat, Green, or unaffiliated Independent. Oh, and I’ll actually be financially contributing to that opponent, since Warner apparently got enough funds from his kickbacks and obviously doesn’t need mine.

Building off the theory that Ron Paul supporters are standing by, poised at the Google homepage and refreshing every odd second for anything reflecting negatively on their “candidate”, I shall once again perform an experiment to test this theory. *clears throat*

What surprises me is that my usually-moronic senator, Webb, voted against it. Warner I’d expect, but Webb? In fact, it was nothing short of astonishing that Sen. Boxer voted it down, as well. (Perhaps enough legal Hispanic residents sent complaints about pardoning line-jumpers?) And if that wasn’t ironic enough, I very much want to bitchslap the President right now.. Just let the damn thing die the death it deserves.

Ace’s blog has a good round-up of various MSM headlines regarding a Pew poll of American Muslims. Most of them are prettifying the findings, but a few actually tell it like it is. And no, we’re not talking Fox News. Anyone remember Pravda, former propaganda organisation of the Communist government in Russia? Here’s their headline: One in four younger U.S. Muslims support suicide bombings. So CNN et al have no excuse.

And the Bizarro dimension doesn’t end there:

Tim Kaine does something right

As politically conservative as I am, I openly admit our governor did the right thing when he simply closed the legal loophole in gun law. So there, I met my fairness quota for this month.

However, I hear he’s getting blasted for it. Kids, this is why we can’t have reasoned debate in this country anymore. Civility starts with you.

I never thought I’d ever advocate taking legal action against someone, what with this being the Year of the Edwards and Frivolous Lawsuits. And I’m no fan of jocks. (No, they never bullied me physically, (I was an athlete myself) but I always seem to have the wonderful luck of only associating with the dumb variety) But this is the kind of situation for which these laws were made in the first place.

“I have every confidence that the decision to dismiss all the charges was the correct decision based on that evidence,” Nifong said.

In what appeared to be a plea to the athletes not to take any further action, such as a lawsuit, he said: “It is my sincere desire that the actions of Attorney General Cooper will serve to remedy any remaining injury that has resulted from these cases.”

Would I sue? Ya sure ya betcha.

Would it be out of spite or a sense of revenge? Well, now…I can’t pretend I wouldn’t get any kind of satisfaction from seeing Nifong laid out to dry. But these types of lawyers need to know that this kind of bullshit will not be tolerated. Hanging Nifong high as he deserves certainly won’t stop all the problems, but it might make some lawyers with too much ambition and not enough common sense to think twice about doing something this abysmally stupid.

Not to mention that, in this case, “sorry” is not enough. Even if this asshat tried to settle out of court, which is what I’m sure he’ll try to do if they do decide to sue, I’d have a smile on my face as I told him to kindly frak off. No amount of money can take back what he’s done, which would be the only acceptable settlement as far as I’m concerned. Defamation isn’t something that’s fixed with an apology that I suspect is only referencing the fact that the asshat was caught.

If the gods of justice are merciful, Nifong, you’ll be working for minimum wage at Wawa to make a living.
